Juggling a full-time job and full-time passion isn’t always easy, and comes with unique trials and triggers; but it’s nice to step away from my own notebook, and take a look at the art around me. The National Portrait Gallery is one of my favorite museums in D.C. It’s open until 7 p.m., close to food and shopping, and full of exciting new and old exhibitions.Read More
Every time I get the slightest sniff of fall, my heart and mind becomes full and excited. Orange and red leaves, the crisp chill in the air, and cozy clothes.Read More
In the midst of chaos, it's always nice to step away, just for a second, and look at how beautiful things actually are. I've had a very busy few months, of weddings, high school reunions, my yoga + painting event, and travel. Last weekend was the first holiday of the summer, and what a joy it was to enjoy it in one of my favorite cities, Savannah.Read More
After nearly four years of my beloved 2ndandL, the journey of discovery and peace, today we begin the new. Welcome to I Paint in Heels, where my hands that paint meet my fingers that type; all ending in an overflow of my creative nuances.
This is the journey of a blogger turned illustrator turned painter turned firefly. Management Consultant by day, Tweeting on the Twitterlings, and advocating for diversity and inclusion. I Paint in Heels began on Instagram in 2014, still very much linked to the 2ndandL blog, a myriad of all the pretty things I wanted to create, and a first row seat to the evolution of my art.
I Paint in Heels, the art, the joy, the acrylic, the watercolors, the calligraphy, and the illustrations that keep me going. I've challenged myself, switched mediums, changed papers, sold some, lost some, ripped some, and still ended up with a paint brush in hand.
The art is what keeps me sane, the words are what keep me going, and the self care helps me keep it all together. The journey into entrepreneurship and self discovery has been bumpy at times. I've thought about quitting at least once a month. The joy that comes from creating is something I wouldn't dare change for the world. The brushes against the canvas, the struggle and the woes, it makes life a little simpler.
Welcome! Grab some paint, grab some wine, and throw on some heels (if you'd like!).
